We had a similar experience with Gate 1 in May 2016. We booked a 15 day trip to Turkey and Greece that would include touring on land and a cruise to the Greek Isles. Less than 24 hours before leaving home, we found out our flight from Rome to Istanbul was gone. NO schedule change was posted by Gate 1, nor were we notified by them. When I called them Gate 1's response was "work it out when you get to Rome?" Seriously? We were suppose to fly Omaha - Chicago - Rome and then try to find a flight to Istanbul?

I spent 3 hours on the phone with Gate 1, first off advising them that the flight was not there. They pointed the finger at the airlines, and made me call them, who in turn made me call Gate 1 back. This all caused us a great deal of stress and anxiety. They finally got us on a flight, but we would have to spend 14 hours in the Rome airport. Then I had to fight with them to get the transfer from the airport to the hotel, especially since we would arrive in Istanbul at 2:30 am. By the time we got to our hotel in Istanbul it was 4:30 am and we had been traveling 40 hours. Our wake up call was 6:30 am for a full day of walking tours. We asked Gate 1 about providing meal vouchers or putting us up in a hotel during our 14 hours in the airport, but they declined. We missed our first day of the tour in Istanbul and the opportunity "to rest, relax and acclimate". We missed orientation, meeting our guide, Q & A time, meeting others on the tour and getting a full nights sleep in a bed. NOT the way to start a tour.

We had other issues during the tour where we made decisions based on what we were told by Gate 1. Example: We called then to find out which port we were landing in on one of the Greek Isles. Based on their answer we booked a land tour. When we got on the ship we found out we don't go into that port. Paid for the land tour, could not go on it, could not cancel, could not get a refund.

When we returned home we contacted Gate 1 and were told to send them a letter detailing our problems. No one in would discuss it with us on the phone. A month after sending our letter we called and were told they have to send our comments to the various departments and offices to look into it further. It can take up to 8 weeks to get a response.

We travel a great deal, both domestic and international. I doubt we will ever travel with Gate 1 again. There is always some anxiety traveling to another country where you deal with language and currency barriers. One of the reasons you book with a travel company is so they set up and take care of getting you there and back. Don't count on Gate 1 to do it.

This reviewer shared experience about poor customer service and wants this business to read this review and look into the issue (if any). This person is overall dissatisfied with Gate1travel. The most disappointing about gate1travel tour at Gate1travel was customer service, problem resolution and 14 hour flight layover , but reviewer liked local guides were great. Reviewer wants customer support to reach our to him or her ASAP for further discussion of this matter.
